Brock Jones Obituary, Death; – The Ohio State Highway Patrol has identified the teenager who tragically lost his life in a single-vehicle accident on Friday as 16-year-old Brock Jones, a student at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center (MCCTC).

The incident occurred on Scotts Corners Road, near Jones Road, in Palmyra Township, Portage County. According to reports, the crash took place around 10 p.m. and involved a 2024 Chevrolet Camaro carrying four teenagers. State Troopers indicated that a 17-year-old female was driving the vehicle, which had three passengers aged between 16 and 18, including one from Lake Milton.

MCCTC confirmed to 21 News that the deceased was a junior in the welding program at the institution. A representative from MCCTC noted that his home district was Springfield Local Schools, although he had previously attended Boardman Local School District. Furthermore, the teenager from Lake Milton was also enrolled at MCCTC.

In response to this tragedy, the school will provide grief counseling throughout the day on Monday, along with the presence of therapy dogs to support students. Initial investigations revealed that the Camaro veered off the right side of the road into a ditch, subsequently colliding with a utility pole and several small trees before overturning.

Scotts Corners Road was closed for three hours while the investigation was conducted, which is still ongoing. Authorities suspect that speed may have played a role in the accident.
