At approximately 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, both the New Braunfels police and fire department responded to the 6000 block of Interstate 35 following reports of an 18-wheeler that tragically collided with a pedestrian.
The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Austin resident Austin Michael Arp. The truck driver sustained no injuries and is not anticipated to face any charges, as stated in a news release from New Braunfels. The inquiry is being conducted by the Traffic Unit of the New Braunfels Police Department. According to Sigalert, all lanes have since been reopened.
