Alexandria Current Obituary, Death; – A woman from Oklahoma lost her life after being hit by a vehicle on Patterson Avenue late Wednesday night.
Authorities were summoned to the intersection of Patterson Avenue and Westhampton Glen Drive shortly before midnight due to an incident involving a pedestrian.
“Upon arrival, officers found a Nissan Altima and two adult pedestrians,” the police reported. “One adult female pedestrian was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she subsequently passed away.”
The woman, identified as 25-year-old Alexandria Current, along with a man, was trying to cross the westbound lanes of Patterson Avenue just before a Nissan Altima that was also heading west.
Current was struck and transported to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The man managed to avoid being hit.
Authorities stated that the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
“There is no indication that alcohol, drugs, or speed were contributing factors in this incident concerning either the driver or the pedestrians,” the police noted. “However, the use of dark clothing, poor lighting conditions, and not utilizing a crosswalk or intersection are believed to have played a role in this accident.”
