Aden Alcide Jeannoutot Obituary, Death; – The identity of a man who was fatally shot by a Greeley police officer on the eve of Thanksgiving has been disclosed.
The Weld County Coroner’s Office confirmed that 18-year-old Aden Alcide Jeannoutot, a resident of Greeley, was the individual who lost his life in a police shooting that occurred outside North Colorado Medical Center on Wednesday, November 26.
The 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team reported last week that the incident originated from a traffic stop: A Greeley police officer attempted to pull over a vehicle near the intersection of 21st Avenue and 16th Street, which contained two occupants.
According to the team, a woman was operating the vehicle, and she exited the car while a male passenger, identified as Jeannoutot, remained inside. The CIRT noted that the officer was aware of Jeannoutot’s active felony warrant for his arrest.
Court documents indicate that Jeannoutot was involved in two theft cases and a menacing case in Weld County, all of which date back to June. He had been granted personal recognizance bonds in each of these cases. A warrant was issued in August after he failed to appear in court for one of the theft charges, as per Colorado court records.
The CIRT stated that during the traffic stop on November 26, the officer instructed Jeannoutot to exit the vehicle, but he did not comply. Instead, the CIRT reported that Jeannoutot reached for a bag that was on his lap.
The officer allegedly continued to give commands that Jeannoutot ignored. Subsequently, the officer discharged his weapon, and attempts to save the man’s life were made before he was transported to a hospital, where he was declared deceased.
