Michael Anderson,Deonte Ivory Obituary, Death; – A man from Council Bluffs, who was convicted of double murder earlier this year, received his sentencing in court on Thursday.
Dequanta Zachary, aged 30, was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole after being found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of two men from Omaha. The proceedings were overseen by Judge Amy Zacharias in Pottawattamie County court.
Shortly after midnight on April 28, the Council Bluffs Police were alerted to a report of an individual down in the 2100 block of South 29th Street, where they discovered 36-year-old Deonte Ivory deceased.
Later that morning, at approximately 7 a.m., authorities responded to another report of a man down in the 3200 block of South 24th Street, where they found 25-year-old Michael Anderson also deceased. Autopsies conducted on both victims confirmed that they succumbed to gunshot wounds.
Investigators were able to identify a suspect vehicle, which was subsequently recovered in Mills County, Iowa. The investigation further indicated that Zachary, Ivory, and Anderson were all connected as associates.
