Serenity Burton,Deante Hawthorne Obituary, Death; – Investigators have released new footage depicting the events that led to the deadly shooting of a suspect in Oklahoma City in November.
The Oklahoma City Police Department reports that officers from Moore Police responded to a shooting incident at 4 a.m. on November 22. According to investigators, 34-year-old
Deante Hawthorne shot two individuals at a residence located near the 200 block of North Eastern Avenue, resulting in one injury and the death of 18-year-old Serenity Burton.
After fleeing the scene, investigators state that Hawthorne stole a vehicle in northwest Oklahoma City and subsequently drove to northeast Oklahoma City, where he shot and killed another man before also stealing that man’s car.
Later that same day, officers from the Oklahoma City Police Department began pursuing Hawthorne’s vehicle, which led to a crash and his subsequent flight on foot. While escaping, the OCPD reports that Hawthorne attempted to carjack several vehicles near the intersection of Interstate 240 and South Eastern Avenue.
Ultimately, officers fatally shot Hawthorne at the scene.
Court documents indicate that Hawthorne had an extensive criminal record and was a suspect in a murder case from 2012.
