Eric Tarpinian-Jachym Obituary, Death; – Authorities in Washington D.C. are providing a reward of $75,000 for information that results in the capture of an 18-year-old man now sought for two murders, one of which involves the death of a congressional intern.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) reported that Naqwan Antonio Lucas, aged 18, was initially sought under a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant for first-degree murder while armed, related to the shooting death of Eric Tarpinian-Jachym on June 30. Police stated that officers arrived at the scene around 10:30 p.m.
following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered Tarpinian-Jachym, along with a woman and a 16-year-old boy, all suffering from gunshot wounds. All three victims were promptly transported to nearby hospitals by paramedics from DC Fire and EMS.
Tarpinian-Jachym, a 21-year-old intern from Massachusetts working for a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, succumbed to his injuries the following day. A few months later, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended two other 17-year-old boys in connection with the shooting, identified as Kelvin Thomas and Jalien Lucas, both of whom are facing charges of first-degree murder.
Lucas was subsequently identified as the third suspect, and police released his images to the public on September 26. While searching for Lucas regarding the homicide on June 30, detectives also discovered that he was the suspected shooter in another murder that resulted in the death of 17-year-old Zoey Kelley on July 4.

MPD officials indicated that officers responded to a residence around 5:20 p.m., where they found Kelley suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and the medical examiner classified her death as a homicide.
Lucas is also wanted under a separate D.C. Superior Court Grand Jury indictment for first-degree murder while armed in connection with Kelley’s death.
The police department has announced a reward of $50,000 for information leading to Lucas’ arrest, with the FBI’s Washington Field Office contributing an additional $15,000. The U.S. Marshals Service is also offering $10,000.
