Christopher Houser Obituary, Death;- Impairment and speed were identified as contributing factors in a fatal head-on collision that occurred on Saturday night in Catawba County, as reported by troopers.

The incident reportedly resulted in the death of one driver, while the other was airlifted to a medical facility; additionally, three passengers, including two children, sustained serious injuries.

The deceased driver was identified as Christopher Houser, aged 40.

The two-vehicle accident took place at approximately 9:10 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, along Settlemyre Bridge Road, close to White Oak Drive in Newton. Troopers indicated that Houser was heading east when he crossed the centerline and collided head-on with an Infiniti Q50.

Authorities suspect that Houser was both impaired and exceeding the speed limit; he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The 22-year-old driver of the Infiniti was transported to the hospital, and their current condition remains unknown.

Three passengers in the Infiniti—one adult and two children—were also admitted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Officials stated that the road was closed for several hours while the investigation was conducted, and confirmed that no charges will be brought in relation to the crash.
