Pinien Dalmacy Obituary, Death;- A 15-year-old boy has been taken into custody and charged with manslaughter following the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy at a park in Orange County, as reported by Sheriff John Mina on Friday.
“I am extremely upset,” Sheriff Mina stated.
The sheriff indicated that the shooting appears to have originated from a minor confrontation earlier that day between the two boys in the hallway of Oak Ridge High School.
It seems that one boy accidentally collided with the other in the hallway, prompting one of them to request an apology. When this did not occur, the two boys arranged to meet at the basketball courts in a nearby park “to fight,” according to the sheriff.
“I am very angry that an incident as trivial as bumping into someone in a high school hallway, something we have all experienced, has escalated into the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old,” Sheriff Mina expressed.
“This tragedy could have been avoided, but a 15-year-old with a firearm made a decision that altered someone’s life forever.”
Orange County deputies responded to the basketball courts at Vogt-Melloon Park on West Oak Ridge Road Thursday afternoon after receiving reports of a shooting. The park is in close proximity to Oak Ridge High School.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 16-year-old boy, later identified as Pinien Dalmacy, suffering from two gunshot wounds. He succumbed to his injuries.
Following the shooting, the 15-year-old suspect fled back to Oak Ridge High School, where he was located in the cafeteria. A firearm was discovered in his backpack, Sheriff Mina reported.
He has been arrested and charged with manslaughter involving a firearm and possession of a firearm on school grounds. FOX 35 has chosen not to disclose the boy’s name due to his age.
