Jon Fehrenbacher Obituary, Death;- Authorities have publicly named a man discovered deceased in the Ohio River near an Evansville boat ramp this week as 66-year-old Jon Fehrenbacher.
As reported by the Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office, Fehrenbacher’s remains were found on Thursday close to the Dogtown Boat ramp, situated at 5500 Old Henderson Road in the Ohio River bottoms.
“The autopsy results are still pending,” stated Chief Deputy Coroner Amy Miller in a news release. “There is no suspicion of foul play.”
Rescue teams commenced their search for Fehrenbacher at approximately 5 p.m. on Wednesday after a 911 caller reported an abandoned boat drifting with the river’s current.
First responders indicated that they discovered Fehrenbacher’s wallet and cellphone within the boat, but he was not present in the vessel.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is spearheading the investigation, with support from the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office. As of Friday, officials have not disclosed how Fehrenbacher is believed to have entered the water.
Sheriff Noah Robinson directed inquiries regarding the incident to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
