Jake Kuykendall Obituary, Death; – Authorities in Daviess County are conducting an investigation into a deadly accident involving a FedEx truck that collided with another vehicle before hitting an individual on a moped.

As reported by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, the three-vehicle incident occurred at the intersection of State Road 257 and U.S. 50 at approximately 4:41 p.m. on Thursday, July 31.

The sheriff’s office indicated that the preliminary investigation revealed that Gina Graber, from Loogootee, was operating a Ford SUV eastbound on U.S. 50 when a collision took place at the intersection of U.S. 50 and S.R. 257 with a FedEx truck driven by Daniel Altmeyer, from Huntingburg, who was traveling southbound on S.R. 257.

A separate vehicle accident resulted in one injury in Daviess County. The collision caused the FedEx truck to strike a moped that was stationary on the southern side of the intersection, according to the sheriff’s office. The moped operator was identified as Jake Kuykendall, from Olney, Illinois.

“Due to the collision, Mr. Kuykendall was ejected from the moped. He was taken to Daviess Community Hospital and subsequently transferred to a hospital in Evansville, where he unfortunately passed away during the night. Mr. Kuykendall’s family has been informed,” stated the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
