Jose Valdez Obituary, Death; – The Modesto Police Department has apprehended an individual in connection with the deadly shooting of a 43-year-old man on McHenry Avenue early Friday morning. The victim, identified as Jose Valdez from Modesto, was declared deceased in the parking lot of Citi Auto Sales shortly after midnight, as reported in a news release.
Through witness interviews and investigative leads, authorities identified Edward McCullen, also 43 and a resident of Modesto, as the alleged shooter. At approximately 5 p.m. on Friday, the Modesto Police Department’s SWAT team arrested McCullen in central Modesto. He faces charges that include homicide and weapons offenses.
“Our team is dedicated to ensuring justice for victims of violent crimes and providing closure for their families,” stated Sgt. Sean Martin of the Violent Crimes Unit. “We are pleased to have achieved this for Mr. Valdez and his family.”
