Warren Grant Obituary, Death; – A 15-year-old student has tragically lost his life following a shooting incident that occurred in the bathroom of a high school in Maryland on Friday, according to authorities. The Harford County Sheriff’s Office, along with several firefighters, responded to Joppatowne High School in the afternoon to address the shooting situation.

In a communication sent to all Harford County Public Schools, officials reported that the victim, identified as Warren Grant, suffered a gunshot wound during a confrontation at the school. Investigations revealed that the 16-year-old suspect and Grant were the only individuals involved, confirming that the shooting was an isolated event. Although the principal and a school resource officer were present in the building at the time, they did not hear the gunfire but were alerted by the ensuing commotion.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place in the men’s restroom on the first floor. The suspect fled the school premises but was located and apprehended within minutes in the vicinity of nearby residences.

Officials noted that this was the suspect’s first day attending school this academic year. Grant was airlifted to a trauma center in critical condition, but the Sheriff later announced that he had succumbed to his injuries. The school issued a statement on its website indicating that deputies were summoned to respond to an “isolated incident” following a physical altercation.

Sheriff Jeff Gahler mentioned that current legislation restricts the Harford County Sheriff’s Office from interrogating the suspect, but the State’s Attorney has confirmed that charges will be filed against him in connection with the shooting. Maryland law prohibits law enforcement from questioning minors in custody without the presence of an attorney. Parents were instructed to collect their children at the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church.
