Vernon Johnson Obituary, Death; – A resident of Temple is currently in custody facing murder charges, having been accused of fatally shooting his neighbor during a dispute. Authorities have apprehended 52-year-old David Tate in relation to the shooting death of 54-year-old Vernon Johnson.
According to the Temple police, Johnson was shot after he entered the backyard of his neighbor on Luna Lane in the 700 block on Wednesday evening. Officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 7:20 p.m. following reports of a shooting and discovered Johnson with multiple gunshot wounds. The responding officers spoke with Tate, who provided a statement about the incident.
Johnson was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead at 7:55 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Larry Wilkey.
