Ty Braxton Lewis Obituary, Death; – A deputy from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office shot and fatally wounded a man in Harrisburg on Saturday evening. Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Railroad Street following a 911 call reporting a man who was screaming and brandishing a firearm, as stated by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the release, during the confrontation, the individual, later identified as Ty Braxton Lewis, 31, from Columbia, advanced towards the deputies after disregarding commands, which led to the male being shot and killed by personnel from the Sheriff’s Office.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is currently conducting an investigation into the incident.

Court records available online indicate that Lewis had a history of minor criminal offenses. He received a seven-day jail sentence for resisting arrest in January 2024 and was sentenced to 15 days in jail, along with probation, for theft and fourth-degree assault, a misdemeanor, in 2020. His Facebook profile suggests that Lewis had been striving for sobriety from methamphetamine addiction, celebrating 60 days of sobriety as recently as April.
