Thomas Feminella Obituary, Death; – The individual who was fatally shot by officers of the Bartlett Police on Thursday has been identified by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation as 30-year-old Thomas Feminella.
As reported by TBI, shortly before 6 p.m., officers from the Bartlett Police were responding to a shoplifting report at a Walmart located in the 8400 block of Highway 64 when they observed a second suspect in the shoplifting incident departing from the store.
When the officers attempted to apprehend the suspect, later recognized as Feminella, he allegedly brandished a knife and began to approach them.
During this encounter, Feminella is said to have disregarded several commands from the officers to drop the weapon. It was at this point that TBI indicates the situation intensified. Subsequently, two officers discharged their firearms, hitting Feminella, who was situated near a nearby business, according to TBI.
Feminella was transported to the hospital, where he was declared deceased. No injuries to officers were reported during this incident. This fatal officer-involved shooting remains under active investigation.
