Suk Kyong Szafranski Obituary, Death; – The police have identified a 78-year-old woman, the spouse of a retired Army chief warrant officer, as the victim of a deadly hit-and-run incident that occurred on April 12.

Suk Kyong Szafranski was hit by a vehicle at approximately 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of North Reilly Road and Telfair Drive, as reported by law enforcement. She was declared deceased at the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

The tragic event took place just a few blocks from the Fayetteville residence she shared with her husband of 50 years, as noted in her obituary. On April 29, a tip received by CrimeStoppers directed detectives to the residence of Jamal Andre Holliday, 35, located about 2 miles from the site of the accident, according to a news release. At the home on Auburndale Drive, officers discovered a 2021 Kia Forte in the front yard that exhibited damage consistent with the collision, as stated in the news release.

Holliday is facing charges of felony hit-and-run and operating a vehicle with a revoked license. He is currently detained in the Cumberland County jail, with bail set at $35,000, as per court documents. A visitation and memorial service for Szafranski is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. on Monday, May 5, at Lafayette Funeral Home on Raeford Road.
