Stephanie Madzy Obituary, Death; A man from New Braunfels has been charged with criminal negligence following a fatal pedestrian accident that resulted in the death of a woman.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of North Seguin Avenue. Authorities identified the victim as 60-year-old Stephanie Madzy in a Facebook post.
According to police, the driver of a dump truck was stopped at a red light and, while making a right turn, failed to yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk. The truck struck Madzy during the turn.
First responders attempted life-saving measures, but Madzy was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 60-year-old Jude T. Jones, has been charged with criminally negligent homicide.
Police stated that the investigation is still ongoing and that additional charges could be filed.
