Sergeant Sarah Roque, aged 23, served as a bridge crewmember and Mine Dog Handler with the K9 Detachment in the 5th Engineer Battalion, as stated in a Facebook announcement from the Army. She was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, where she completed her Basic Combat Training following her enlistment in 2020.
The initial report indicated that she failed to report for her morning duties earlier this week, and attempts to contact her were unsuccessful. On Tuesday, the Army confirmed that Roque’s body had been located. Additional details regarding the circumstances of her death have not been disclosed.
