Scotty Bass,Sebastian Bass Obituary, Death; – The Kitsap County Medical Examiner’s Office announced on Friday the identities of the two men who were fatally injured in an apparent homicide on Scandia Road on Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as 17-year-old Scotty Bass and 16-year-old Sebastian Bass. They were discovered deceased in their residence by deputies from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office following a 911 call made by a third individual, Seth R. South, on Wednesday afternoon.
The autopsy conducted by the medical examiner revealed that both men died from sharp force injuries, with each having sustained a fatal cut to the throat. This information led to the filing of two murder charges against South, who was apprehended in Pierce County on Wednesday evening.
South made his initial court appearance on Thursday at the Kitsap County Superior Court, facing two counts of second-degree murder. He is currently being held at the Kitsap County Jail without bail, as ordered by Superior Court Judge Bill Houser. Court documents indicate that South is scheduled for evaluation at Western State Hospital prior to a competency hearing set for Friday, October 25.
An assault charge, which stemmed from South allegedly striking a Kitsap County Sheriff’s detective during his arrest, has since been dismissed. As detailed in the probable cause statement for South’s arrest, he called 911 on October 9 at approximately 3 p.m., claiming that one of the victims had been injured by a knife, referring to him as his half-brother. South’s residence is listed as the same location on Scandia Road where the bodies were discovered, situated just south of Poulsbo.
Upon arrival, KCSO deputies and first responders found one victim deceased in the kitchen on the first floor and the other at the top of the staircase on the second floor. A search for South commenced, and he was subsequently stopped and taken into custody by Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies in Bonney Lake several hours later.
