Samuel Carson Jr Obituary, Death; – The Dorchester County Coroner has named the man who died while incarcerated at the L.C. Knight Detention Center. Dorchester County Coroner Paul Brouthers said Samuel Carson, Jr., 49, of St. George, was pronounced dead at the jail.
Details about Carson’s cause and manner of death have not been released. His body is scheduled for an autopsy at MUSC Saturday morning at 8.
Detention deputies at the L.C. Knight Detention Center found the inmate, now identified as Carson, unresponsive Wednesday afternoon. Deputies attempted life-saving measures, but they were unable to save his life and Carson was pronounced dead, sheriff’s spokesman Steven Wright said.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating this incident.
