Meeks says Powell was the owner of the plane and that Jones was a pilot instructor.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is leading the investigation and arrived at the plane crash site Friday morning to start their investigation.
Powell was a certified pilot, but Meeks says he was attempting to upgrade his pilot license to possibly a commercial pilot license status. Meeks says they don’t know what happened towards the end of the flight, but that there was a sudden and quick change as they attempted to land.
