Robert McPherson Obituary, Death; – A motorcyclist tragically lost his life on Wednesday night in Fairfield when a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction attempted to make a left turn directly in front of him, according to police reports.

According to a post by the Fairfield police on Facebook, the incident occurred around 8:05 p.m. at the intersection of West Texas Street and First Street. The motorcyclist was proceeding west on West Texas Street, nearing a Circle K gas station, while the other vehicle was heading east.

Police indicated that the vehicle entered the center lane to execute a left turn into the Circle K driveway, inadvertently turning directly into the path of the motorcyclist, which resulted in the rider being thrown from the motorcycle. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and has been identified as 63-year-old Robert McPherson.

The 68-year-old driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperative during the investigation, as reported by the police. Following screenings for alcohol and drugs, authorities determined that neither substance played a role in the accident. The driver, whose identity has not been disclosed, did not sustain any injuries, and there were no other passengers in the vehicle.

The collision led to the closure of West Texas Street for several hours overnight between Pennsylvania Avenue and Gregory Lane, but the road has since been reopened.
