Robert Gonzalez Obituary, Death; – An 84-year-old man was discovered deceased inside his residence on the southeast side of San Antonio early Wednesday morning, following the efforts of first responders to extinguish the flames that had consumed his home.
The San Antonio Fire Department arrived at the scene on the 500 block of Schley Avenue at approximately 6:28 a.m., encountering substantial flames.
Relatives of the deceased, identified by loved ones as Robert Gonzalez, arrived promptly at the residence, which was constructed in 1904. Assistant Fire Chief Stephen Ruston reported that crews ultimately located Gonzalez’s body in a rear bedroom, which appears to be the area where the fire may have started.
Officials indicated that the damage to the property is extensive, although they were unable to provide a monetary assessment of the losses. The front of the home primarily suffered from smoke damage, while the fire was concentrated in the rear.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
