Richard William Walker Obituary, Death; – The Asheville Police Department (APD) has confirmed the identity of the motorcycle operator who tragically lost his life in a collision with a tractor-trailer on the evening of Tuesday, February 4.

Officers from the APD arrived at the incident location near the 51-mile marker on I-40 East in south Asheville at approximately 8:10 p.m. on that Tuesday.

According to the preliminary findings of the APD investigation, a 2023 Harley Davidson three-wheeled motorcycle was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-40. This motorcycle subsequently collided with a semi-truck that was heading east.

The motorcycle operator, Richard William Walker, aged 79, was declared deceased at the scene, as reported by the police. Notification has been made to his next of kin. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash remains active.

Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information about the incident to reach out to the Asheville Police Department at 828-252-1110. Additionally, anonymous tips can be submitted by texting TIP2APD to 847411 or through the TIP2APD mobile application.
