Rea Rasmussen Obituary, Death; – Attorney General John M. Formella, along with Colonel Mark B. Hall of the New Hampshire State Police, has announced a significant advancement on behalf of the New Hampshire Cold Case Unit regarding the investigation into the Allenstown homicide case, which occurred between 1985 and 2000 and is commonly known as the Bear Brook murders.

The last unidentified victim, previously referred to as the “middle child,” has now been identified as Rea Rasmussen, who was born in 1976 in Orange County, California. Rea was the biological daughter of Terry Peder Rasmussen, the individual responsible for the murders (who passed away in prison in 2010), and Pepper Reed, born in 1952, originally from Texas, who has not been seen since the late 1970s.

This identification marks the conclusion of a search lasting over 40 years to provide names for all four victims discovered in Bear Brook State Park in Allenstown, New Hampshire.

“This case has burdened New Hampshire and the nation for many years. With the identification of Rea Rasmussen, all four victims have now regained their identities. This progress is the result of remarkable dedication from law enforcement, forensic specialists, and our Cold Case Unit,” stated Attorney General Formella. “Our resolve to uncover the truth, regardless of the time it takes, remains steadfast. We continue to pursue answers regarding the disappearance of Pepper Reed.”
