Randy Johnson,Vickie Key Obituary, Death; – Three individuals lost their lives and two others were hospitalized as a result of a collision in Wilkes County.
WXII reports that one of the individuals who died was a deputy with the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Department. According to the television station, which cited the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the incident took place on Friday at approximately 7 p.m. on Red White and Blue Road, close to Ruth Linny Road.
Troopers indicated that a Jeep Liberty crossed the centerline and struck a Nissan Altima head-on. Randy Johnson, 62, the driver of the Jeep, was pronounced dead at the scene. Vickie Key, 72, a passenger in the Nissan, also succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The driver of the Nissan was transported to a hospital, where he later died. WXII has identified him as Jonathan Laws, 34, a deputy from Wilkes County. Additionally, two other passengers were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries that were not deemed life-threatening.
