Phillip Ogiemwonyi Obituary, Death; – On Thursday, law enforcement officials identified a man sought in relation to the deadly shooting of a passenger aboard a Metro bus the previous week.
Carltonio Jackson, aged 22, has been charged with murder concerning the death of 35-year-old Phillip Ogiemwonyi. As of Thursday afternoon, Jackson was not in custody. Authorities have requested the public’s assistance in locating and apprehending him.
On May 23, Ogiemwonyi was shot in the chest following an argument with another passenger. Police responded to the scene located in the 3200 block of West Bellfort in southwest Houston, where they discovered Ogiemwonyi injured on a sidewalk.
He was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, according to police reports. The alleged shooter fled the scene, as stated by the police.
Authorities did not disclose the nature of the argument or whether Jackson and Ogiemwonyi were acquainted. According to the charging documents, the dispute began while Ogiemwonyi was seated. He then stood up, approached a bus door, and requested to be let off. Jackson subsequently followed Ogiemwonyi, struck him with a firearm, and then shot him, as reported by the police. The incident was captured on the bus’s security camera, according to law enforcement officials.
At the time of the shooting, there were at least two other individuals present on the bus.
