Pfc Tanner F Rubio Obituary, Death; – Marine Corps officials have confirmed the identity of a Marine who passed away on Wednesday at Camp Pendleton, California, due to a tactical training vehicle incident.
Pfc. Tanner F. Rubio, aged 21, lost his life on December 3 during a training accident, which a service release indicated was not connected to the ongoing Exercise Steel Knight 25, currently being conducted across various installations in California and Arizona.
The service did not disclose any further information regarding the incident.
Hailing from Dixon, California, Rubio enlisted in the Marine Corps in January 2025 and was later assigned to the 1st Battalion, 1st Marines in the Camp Horno area of Pendleton, as per his service record.
“The tragic loss of Pfc. Rubio is a sorrowful event for the 1st Marine Division,” stated Maj. Gen. Thomas Savage, the commanding general of the 1st Marine Division. “He will be greatly missed, but his honorable service to our nation will remain in our memories. All of us at the Blue Diamond will keep him and his family in our thoughts and prayers.”
Marine Corps officials have indicated that the incident is currently under investigation.
I MEF represents the Marine Corps’ largest Marine Air-Ground Task Force, or MAGTF, within the service, primarily consisting of the 1st Marine Division, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, and 1st Marine Logistics Group.
