Natalia Andrea Acevedo Mendez Obituary, Death; –Two women lost their lives in a car accident near Rate Field on the South Side of the city.
The tragic incident occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. on Sunday in the 300 block of West 35th Street.
As reported by the police, a red sedan, operated by a 24-year-old woman and carrying a 21-year-old female passenger, was heading east on the 300 block of W. 35th Street when the driver lost control and veered over the median.
The sedan was subsequently struck by a black SUV, which was being driven by an adult male, accompanied by another adult male passenger.
Both women received on-site medical attention from the Chicago Fire Department for bodily trauma. They were then transported to Stroger Hospital, where they were declared deceased.
The medical examiner has confirmed the identity of the 21-year-old passenger as Natalia Andrea Acevedo Mendez, while the driver remains unidentified.
The two men in the SUV were taken to the University of Chicago Hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
No additional information has been provided. Detectives in the area are currently conducting an investigation.
