Michele Williams Obituary, Death; – The Luzerne County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the woman who perished in a fire at a historic brick residence in Avoca as Michele Williams.

Williams succumbed to smoke inhalation after a fire erupted at 618 Main St. at approximately 5 a.m. on March 23. An autopsy performed by forensic pathologist Dr. Charles F. Siebert, Jr. determined that her death was accidental.

Her identity was made public on Tuesday following a Right-To-Know request from The Citizens’ Voice. County officials indicated that the release of this information was postponed while dental records were examined to ensure accurate identification.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined, and a state police fire marshal is currently investigating the incident.
