Meghan Wiekerson Obituary, Death; – A man has been charged with murder following the alleged shooting of his father and his father’s girlfriend, as well as the subsequent arson of their Indianapolis residence on Thanksgiving.

A warrant has been issued for Jaren Morgan, encompassing four counts of murder, two counts of robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, and arson.

According to court documents, officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) were dispatched at approximately 10:30 a.m. on November 27 to a residence situated on the 3700 block of North Audubon Road, near the intersection of 38th Street and North Arlington Avenue, to assist the Indianapolis Fire Department with an active house fire where two individuals were discovered shot inside.

Upon arrival, officers reported finding a woman, 36-year-old Meghan Wiekerson, suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the face. She was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Authorities indicated that a man, 36-year-old Corkney “CJ” Morgan Jr., was found shot while in bed and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Documents indicate that the fire is believed to have originated in the bed where Corkney was located and has been classified as an incendiary arson fire.

In a news release, a spokesperson for the Indianapolis Fire Department stated that two children, aged 1 and 3, were also found inside the residence, but fortunately, both were unharmed.
Court documents reveal that a woman informed police she was on the phone with Wiekerson that morning, discussing their Thanksgiving cooking preparations, during which Wiekerson mentioned attempting to rouse Corkney from bed to assist her.

The documents further state that the two were engaged in conversation for approximately three minutes before the woman heard a “loud pop” in the background and then heard Wiekerson exclaim, “What the f***!”

The woman recounted to police that she heard Wiekerson’s phone drop and one of the children crying in the background, prompting her to drive to the residence to ensure everything was alright.

After detectives interviewed several witnesses, reviewed surveillance footage, and evaluated the crime scene, they identified Corkney’s son, Jaren Morgan, as the alleged perpetrator.

That same day as the shooting and fire, court documents say IMPD officers were made aware of a police chase around 10:40 a.m.

Documents say officers with the Whitestown Police Department, Lebanon Police Department and Indiana State Police were pursuing a white Dodge Charger registered to Wiekerson — being driven by Jaren — on Interstate 65 going towards Lafayette.

Court documents say the police chase ended when the Charger crashed and Jaren was taken to a local hospital with injuries. Documents say he is currently still in the hospital.

When detectives searched the Charger, they found a pistol in the driver’s side door, a shotgun in a bag on the floor of the front passenger side, two laptops, Jaren’s clothes and Jaren’s cell phone.

Documents say detectives interviewed Jaren and he told them that he didn’t remember leaving the home, didn’t remember driving Wiekerson’s car, didn’t remember the police chase and didn’t remember the guns in the car.

He allegedly told police the only thing he remembered was being in the backyard of the home fixing something for Corkney and that Corkney and Wiekerson were arguing inside with someone else when he heard a gunshot.
