Matthew Burke Obituary, Death;- Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood has confirmed the identity of the 33-year-old man who lost his life in a collision in Chillicothe.

Matthew Burke, a resident of Chillicothe, was taken to OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center, where he was declared deceased following the incident that occurred on Friday night, as stated by Harwood in a Facebook update.

Burke suffered multiple blunt force injuries from the single-vehicle accident and was found unconscious, without respiration, and lacking a pulse. He was pronounced dead at 2:50 p.m., nearly an hour after the initial 911 call was made.

Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins reported that deputies responded to the crash around 2:01 p.m. Upon arrival, they observed a vehicle that had apparently lost control, veered off the road, and collided with a tree.

Watkins noted that the vehicle was traveling westbound on Cloverdale Road at the time of the accident, and speed is believed to be a contributing factor. The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
