Mason Schermerhorn,Richard Aspinwall Obituary, Death; – Authorities have confirmed the identities of the four individuals who lost their lives in a school shooting in Georgia on Wednesday, September 4.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced the names of the deceased in a statement on X, previously known as Twitter. The victims include students Mason Schermerhorn, 14, and Christian Angulo, 14, along with teachers Richard Aspinwall, 39, and Christina Irimie, 53.
In a GoFundMe campaign established to assist with funeral costs, Angulo’s sister expressed the shock of his untimely passing, stating, “We are truly heartbroken.” Lisette Angulo emphasized that her brother “really didn’t deserve this.”
During a press briefing on Wednesday, Chris Hosey, Director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, reported that nine additional individuals were hospitalized due to injuries sustained in the shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia. The alleged perpetrator, identified as 14-year-old Colt Gray, is also a student at the school and is anticipated to face adult charges of murder, according to authorities.

The incident was reported at 10:23 a.m. on September 4, prompting a lockdown of the school in response to the violence. Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith stated during the press conference that the suspect surrendered his weapon after being confronted by a school resource officer and was subsequently taken into custody. Smith noted that the motive for the shooting remains unknown. School Superintendent Dallas LeDuff announced that all schools within the district will remain closed for the remainder of the week.
