Mark Morris Jr Obituary, Death;- A 26-year-old man from St. Louis County was fatally shot, and another individual sustained injuries in a shooting incident that occurred early Monday morning in Washington Park.

The deceased has been identified as Mark Morris Jr., residing on the 8700 block of Ezra Drive in St. Louis County, as confirmed by St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. Morris was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:30 a.m. in the 2200 block of North Kingshighway. Law enforcement has not disclosed many details regarding the shooting, which took place outside a nightclub named Compound.

An official statement from the Illinois State Police indicated that agents from Zone 8 responded to the 2200 block of North Kingshighway to investigate the shooting reports. Upon arrival, they discovered a man who had suffered gunshot wounds and was declared deceased. Authorities have not indicated whether a motive for the shooting is known, and no arrests have been made.

Additionally, a second man who was also shot was transported to a local hospital for medical care, although police have not provided updates on his condition. The Illinois State Police have stated that their homicide investigation remains ongoing, with no further information available at this time. Reports from the Belleville News-Democrat indicate that Morris’ death marks the fourth homicide in Washington Park this year.
