Malachi A Mitchell Obituary, Death; – Douglas County deputies discovered a deceased individual in a vehicle during a recent traffic stop, as reported by the sheriff’s office.

On the evening of Wednesday, January 29, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a car located near Thornton Road and I-20, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Upon inspection, deputies found a deceased passenger within the vehicle, later identified as Malachi A. Mitchell.

The driver was taken to the sheriff’s office headquarters, where he reportedly cooperated with the investigation. “Following initial questioning, the driver was released while the investigation continues,” stated the sheriff’s office.

The identity of the driver has not been disclosed. In the aftermath of the incident, deputies reported that threats have been directed towards his family. In response, the sheriff’s office has increased patrols and surveillance to ensure the safety of the individual. The investigation remains active.

“To maintain the integrity of the investigation and ensure the safety of those involved, we will not be releasing any additional information at this time,” the sheriff’s office indicated.
