Luis Cruz Obituary, Death; – A 49-year-old man was fatally struck by an e-bike while crossing a street in Greenpoint on Friday evening, according to police reports. The victim has been identified as Luis Cruz. Authorities stated that he was crossing Franklin Street near India Street at approximately 7:45 p.m. when a 26-year-old man on an e-bike collided with him.
Cruz sustained critical head injuries and was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead. The e-bike operator remained at the scene, and law enforcement has indicated that no arrests have been made.
While authorities do not suspect any criminal activity, the investigation is still in progress. Following the incident, Franklin Street between India and Java streets was closed for several hours to allow emergency personnel to respond.
