Luciano Becerra Garcia Obituary, – The California Highway Patrol in the Fresno area is conducting an investigation into a tragic collision that took place early Friday morning, resulting in the death of 41-year-old Luciano Becerra Garcia from Fresno.
On Friday afternoon, the Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office confirmed Garcia’s identity. The incident occurred around 4:45 a.m. when CHP communications received a report regarding the accident on northbound Highway 41, just north of Shields Avenue.
Authorities indicated that Garcia was riding his bicycle southbound in the northbound No. 1 lane when he was struck by a Chevrolet Impala operated by a 19-year-old male. The driver, who was traveling in the northbound No. 1 lane, was unable to avoid the collision, as noted in the CHP report. The force of the impact caused the bicyclist to be thrown into the traffic lanes, where he ultimately came to rest, obstructing two lanes of traffic.
Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene, and the Chevrolet driver was cooperative with the investigation. Despite the medical assistance provided, the cyclist was declared dead at the scene.
It remains uncertain whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the incident involving the bicyclist. The investigation is still in progress. Authorities are urging any witnesses to the collision or individuals with information regarding the victim to contact (559) 705-2200.
