Lori Wind Obituary, Death; Suspect Arrested for murdering Woman

Lori Wind Obituary, Death; – The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office has disclosed the identity of the individual charged in connection with a fatal shooting incident on a trail in Summerville. Kristopher Kelle McDonald, aged 20, has been arrested and faces charges of Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature, as well as Involuntary Manslaughter.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR), which is collaborating on the investigation, has issued warrants for further charges. These charges include criminal negligent use of a firearm resulting in death, criminal negligent use of a firearm resulting in significant bodily harm, and night hunting.

As per the arrest warrant issued by the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, McDonald exhibited criminal negligence while unlawfully hunting deer on Tuesday night at the Sawmill Branch Canal Trail in Summerville. The warrant indicates that he discharged three to four rounds from his 20-gauge shotgun at what he believed to be a deer after hearing rustling leaves and branches near the canal.

Upon arrival, Dorchester EMS found two individuals, a male and a female, both suffering from gunshot wounds. The female was pronounced dead at the scene, while the male was transported to the hospital with multiple gunshot injuries.

The Dorchester County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased victim as Lori Wind, 54, of Summerville, who was shot while walking with her husband and dog. According to deputies, McDonald learned of the incident through news reports the following morning and subsequently surrendered to the Sheriff’s Office, where he admitted to engaging in night hunting for deer.

McDonald is currently held at the Dorchester County L.C. Knight Detention Center, awaiting a bond hearing. The investigation is being conducted by the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, and the Summerville Police Department.
