Laura Parker Obituary, Death; – A retired officer from the Cleveland Division of Police tragically lost her life in a fire on Tuesday morning. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified her as 67-year-old Laura Parker.

In a statement released to FOX 8 News on Wednesday, city Public Safety Director Wayne Drummond expressed that the news of Parker’s passing was “devastating,” noting that she served in the police department for nearly three decades.

“She held various roles in the 1st and 3rd Districts, as well as in the Sex Crimes Unit, and received numerous accolades for her contributions from former mayors, police chiefs, and law enforcement partners. Our thoughts are with her family, and we urge the entire community to keep them in their thoughts during this challenging time,” his statement partially reads.

Cleveland firefighters were dispatched to a residence on West 148th Street, close to Terminal Avenue, shortly after 2 a.m. on Tuesday. Upon arrival, the firefighters found the home extensively engulfed in flames, and Parker was discovered deceased on the front porch. There is no suspicion of foul play. It remains unclear whether the residence was equipped with functioning smoke detectors.
