Lakendrick Roby,Dwayne Carter Obituary, Death; – Milwaukee law enforcement is currently investigating a series of shootings that occurred over the weekend, resulting in the deaths of five individuals and injuries to several others, including a child.
The violence spanned various neighborhoods throughout the city. On Saturday morning, authorities reported that two men were shot near the intersection of Appleton and Ruby.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner has identified the deceased as 43-year-old Dwayne Carter, who was killed during an attempted robbery, and 33-year-old Shaquille Madison, who succumbed to his injuries in the emergency department.
A 35-year-old suspect has been apprehended, while another individual remains at large.
“It’s just an unfortunate situation that happened,” remarked witness Willie Dobson.
On Sunday night, shortly after 9 p.m., police reported that two individuals were shot and killed near 27th and Atkinson. They have been identified as 64-year-old Marcus Smith and 50-year-old Sandra Lee.
Dobson recounted hearing the gunfire and witnessing the aftermath.
“We heard four single shots, one right after [the] other, and we looked at each other like, what the hell was that?” Dobson stated. “There was a young lady lying right here on the corner in the curb. There was a young man lying right here.”
An hour later, around 10 p.m., another shooting occurred near 31st and Courtland, resulting in the death of 44-year-old Lakendrick Roby while he was seated in a vehicle.
Authorities have indicated that they do not yet know who is responsible for these incidents.
In total, three distinct shootings resulted in five fatalities over the course of two days.
“It’s heartbreaking,” expressed resident Dre Eubanks.
Law enforcement also responded to several additional shootings throughout the city that left multiple individuals injured, including a 6-year-old child.
At least two suspects are still being pursued in connection with the fatal incidents that transpired over the weekend.
