King H Lawrence,Tahir D Burley, Obituary, Death; – A worker at a cannabis dispensary in Portland, Oregon, was arrested and charged with murder after voluntarily presenting himself to law enforcement on October 9. The charges stem from a shooting incident on October 3 that resulted in the deaths of two individuals during an armed robbery involving three suspects, as reported by the Portland Police Bureau (PPB).
Jason R. Steiner, 34, from Gresham, Oregon, turned himself in to detectives on Wednesday and was subsequently booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of unlawful weapon use, according to the PPB.
The investigation indicated that the deadly shootings occurred in the aftermath of an armed robbery at the cannabis dispensary where Steiner was employed. The deceased were identified as King H. Lawrence, 18, and Tahir D. Burley, 20, both residents of Milwaukie, Oregon. Authorities are still searching for a third suspect involved in the robbery.
According to a release from the PPB, “Steiner was an employee of the cannabis retailer.” The incident took place at 9:39 p.m. on October 3 at the La Mota adult-use cannabis dispensary located on St. Louis Avenue in the St. Johns Neighborhood of North Portland. Although the dispensary’s website indicated a closing time of 10 p.m., a sign at the scene stated that the store had closed at 9 p.m. due to a series of robberies in the vicinity, as reported by KGW8 News.
When officers from the Portland Police arrived in response to the shooting report, it was noted that “a person believed to be involved remained on scene and is cooperating with police,” according to the PPB release. Detectives from the Portland Police Homicide Unit were dispatched to the location to conduct an investigation. The case is still under investigation, as stated by the PPB.
