Kevin Batiste Sr Arrested; – A person in a motorized wheelchair was killed in a crash involving two vehicles, according to the Alexandria Police Department. APD said the crash happened on Monday, August 25, around 8:45 p.m. in the 3100 block of Hudson Boulevard.

Kevin Batiste, Sr., 52, of Alexandria, was identified as the driver of a van that hit the wheelchair. He was summoned for DWI (second offense) and arrested for vehicular homicide, reckless operation and driving under suspension. Bond was set at $251,000.
A second vehicle was also involved in the crash but fled the scene before APD arrived. This vehicle is described as a dark-colored Dodge Charger with heavy front-end damage.

The victim in the wheelchair was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity is pending notification of the next of kin.

This crash investigation is ongoing.
