Kayelyn Ford Obituary, Death; – A woman in Louisiana was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend just moments after deputies left her home.

According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, 24-year-old Brandon Bell allegedly shot and killed 22-year-old Kayelyn Ford shortly after 3 a.m. Monday, May 19.
Officials said Ford called deputies to an apartment in the 9800 block of Hooper Road, complaining that her ex-boyfriend was attempting to use an old key to enter her apartment.

Deputies responded to the scene and searched the apartment, then left after they didn’t see any sign of him. Bell allegedly ambushed Ford and shot her after deputies left the scene. After allegedly shooting Ford, he then turned the gun on himself. He is currently in critical condition in the hospital. He is not expected to survive, according to the sheriff’s office’s spokesperson. Court records show Bell was arrested and charged with domestic abuse battery in April.

The responding Baton Rouge Police Department officer wrote in an affidavit that Bell and an unnamed victim were arguing when things turned physical. According to the affidavit, Bell told the officer that he began fighting with the victim after he was asked to leave the apartment and began to hit him.

The victim reportedly told the officer that Bell was asked to leave after he “broke a promise.” The victim said Bell then began attacking, according to the affidavit. Court records show Bell was granted a $1,000 bond. A protective order was also filed ordering Bell from coming within 100 yards of Ford.
