Kaden Woodring Arrested; – A 17-year-old high school student was fatally shot by another teenager on Sunday in Cambria County, as reported by law enforcement officials.

Kaden Woodring, 17, from Johnstown, was apprehended on Monday and is facing multiple charges, including criminal homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, and receiving stolen property, according to reports from WJAC and WTAJ. Emergency responders arrived at a residence on the 100 block of Sheridan Street in Johnstown at 11:49 p.m. on Sunday following a report of a gunshot victim.

Upon arrival, they discovered the 17-year-old victim, whose identity has not yet been disclosed by authorities, in the basement of the home with a gunshot wound to her abdomen. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses informed law enforcement that the victim had arrived at the house to collect two individuals who were visiting when Woodring aimed a hunting-style rifle at her and stated, “You know I’m playin’?” before discharging the weapon.

Woodring subsequently notified a family member about the incident and communicated with a 911 operator before departing the residence. He was later taken into custody after reaching out to the police by phone. Authorities indicated that the rifle used in the incident was stolen and had been provided to Woodring weeks prior by another juvenile.

“We are in a state of shock as we grieve the loss of our student,” stated Amy Arcurio, Superintendent of the Greater Johnstown School District. “We are respectful to her family and our entire Trojan community as we try to understand this tragedy.” Woodring has been denied bail and is currently held at the Cambria County Prison. An autopsy is scheduled for today.
