Juan Diego Obituary, Death;- Authorities have confirmed the identity of the individual who was shot and killed at the Carlton Apartments on April 10 as 28-year-old Juan Diego. The Fort Myers Police informed Fox 4 that the incident is being examined as a potential case of self-defense under the ‘stand your ground’ law.
According to law enforcement, Diego was attempting to unlawfully enter an apartment. The resident reported that Diego was armed, prompting the homeowner to shoot him during the break-in attempt. Emergency responders attempted to revive Diego, but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Subsequently, police revealed that Diego not only resided at the Carlton Apartments but also had an apartment number in close proximity to the one he was attempting to enter. Witness Andre Pierre recounted that he was preparing to sleep that night when he heard the gunfire. ‘I was lying down when I heard a loud bang, but I was so fatigued that I initially thought it was a firework or something similar,’ he stated.
‘It’s incredibly unsettling to realize that it occurred so near to me. Upon seeing the news story, I immediately thought, ‘Wow, that’s my apartment.’ The investigation remains active.
