Joshua Degroot Obituary, Death; – A 44-year-old individual residing at the Sedgwick County Department of Corrections Adult Residential and Work Release Programs facility passed away unexpectedly on Thursday while at his place of employment in Wichita.
The individual has been identified as Joshua Degroot, a resident of Wichita, according to a news release from the Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC). Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were summoned after Degroot was discovered unresponsive at work. His coworkers administered life-saving measures until first responders arrived on the scene. Unfortunately, Degroot was pronounced dead at the location.
The Wichita police, with assistance from the KDOC, are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. The cause of death will be established following an autopsy, as stated in the release. Degroot was serving a 44-month sentence for two counts of aggravated battery in Leavenworth County.
