Joseph M Reed Obituary, Death; – A 79-year-old man from Oklahoma lost his life in a collision on Tuesday. The incident occurred shortly before noon at the intersection of old U.S. 166 Highway and Kansas Highway 26 in Cherokee County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a Volkswagen Jetta was traveling east on old 166 Highway when it came to a stop at the stop sign at the junction with K-26. As the Jetta attempted to cross, it failed to yield to a southbound tow truck on K-26, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles. The driver of the Jetta, identified as Joseph M. Reed from Vinita, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 73-year-old female passenger sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital in Joplin. The 23-year-old driver of the tow truck was unharmed.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that all individuals involved were wearing seatbelts.
