Jordan Patterson Obituary, Death; – A local boy, aged 16, has been charged in relation to the shooting incident in May that resulted in the victim’s death inside a vehicle, as reported by police on Thursday.
Manchester Police Lieutenant Nicholas Reinert stated that Zion Smith faces charges of murder, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a dangerous weapon, and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
Officers were dispatched to the vicinity of Irving and Woodland streets at approximately 4 a.m. on May 20 after receiving reports of a vehicle idling on the roadside, according to Reinert. The driver, later identified as 24-year-old Jordan Patterson, was discovered inside the vehicle and unresponsive, Reinert noted.
Reinert indicated that Patterson, who resided in Windsor Locks, was removed from the driver’s seat, and emergency personnel attempted life-saving measures. He stated that Patterson had sustained a gunshot wound to his torso and was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation identified Smith as a suspect, Reinert reported, leading to the issuance of a warrant for his arrest. He mentioned that Smith was located in Alabama and subsequently extradited back to Connecticut. Reinert confirmed that Smith was taken to Hartford Juvenile Detention and is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court on Thursday.
