John Sweeney Obituary, Death; Authorities ID motorcyclist killed on I-476 by alleged wrong way driver

John Sweeney Obituary, Death; – Authorities have identified the man killed Sunday in an accident on the Northeast Extension allegedly caused by a wrong way driver.

50-year-old John Sweeney of Bristol, Bucks County was travelling on I-476 as part of a group of five motorcyclists when authorities say he was struck near mile marker #67 by a vehicle driving south in the northbound lanes.

The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy and determined Sweeney died as the result of blunt force injuries caused by the collision and the manner of death was ruled accidental. There is no word at this time why the driver of the striking vehicle was travelling in the wrong direction.

The coroner’s office, Pennsylvania State Police and The Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office are conducting the investigation.
